Hello.
Welcome to a little introduction podcast here for men of a Certain five.
I am Brian Parks, I am one of the co hosts and I am with my buddy here, Mr. Phil Rizzo. Phil, say hello.
[00:00:29] Speaker B: Hey, what's up, bomber? What's going on, buddy? New pod, baby.
[00:00:32] Speaker A: New pod. So a lot. Some of you hopefully will know us from our other podcast, the Warp Top 10 podcast. Some star Trek fans there. But we decided to branch out because we love lists and we wanted to make lists of other, other stuff, you know, aside from Star Trek. So here we are, you know. Phil, how does that sound? Sounded all right there.
[00:00:50] Speaker B: Yeah, man, it's going to be some fun stuff. We. This is a bit of a. It's been a bit of a struggle to get this baby off the ground. So we were originally going to call this podc, the High Five podcast.
We did run into some technical issues and, you know, the title kind of got buried a lot of, you know, we realized it was kind of like a very common name for podcasts and kind of a. When people started searching for this stuff, it kind of didn't pay out. So we needed a new name. What do you got?
[00:01:17] Speaker A: A lot of people like lists, apparently. Who knew, you know.
[00:01:20] Speaker B: Yeah, a lot of people like doing top five, top ten stuff and we love listening to it and doing it, so that's what we're going to do. But we're calling it the Men of a Certain five podcast. Bomber and I are men of a certain age, if you will. And we love the top five, so. So there you go. That's our title. We're going to be coming at you at minimum once a month. In the beginning, we, you know, we're two regular folks with full time jobs and we try to do this whenever we can and we love doing it and we're going to get you as much content as we can.
But we will promise you this, we'll have at least, at least one per month out there for you. How's that sound? Bummer.
[00:01:54] Speaker A: Sounds banging. And you know, real quick, you know, this whole listing really, I want to say, you know, kind of kicked off. I know we probably talked about this at nauseam on the Star Trek podcast, but you know, we met working at Burger King many, many moons ago and we did a 50 movie list with each other. We gave each other 50 movies, one of the other person to see and we did it over a course of a summer. Am I right about.
[00:02:12] Speaker B: That was one summer? Yeah, that was it. One summer.
[00:02:15] Speaker A: And we just got the 49 and said, fuck it. We don't want it to end. So it's still going on. We still have one more movie each of the other person has yet to see. It was the color purple and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington or the two movies.
[00:02:27] Speaker B: Exactly right. I can't believe it. We watched 49 movies one summer and we did not watch the 50th, and we didn't plan it. Both of us just kind of stopped. It was the weirdest thing.
[00:02:36] Speaker A: Very weird. I mean, and unsurprisingly enough, we lost all the rankings we did on all those. We kind of raided them all anyway, so. But we did, you know, love lists. We would always, you know, rate different things and this and that. So as as many of you know, because you listen to these podcasts that have top five, top ten, top whatever. So. So we wanted to do our own and branch out to other things. So welcome aboard here. Hopefully we can. We can hear from you and get your list as well.
[00:03:01] Speaker B: So, yeah, so we'll be coming at you. We'll be coming at you with a. Like we said, a different topic each month at least. And yeah, be on the lookout for our first episode. It's going to be top five Bugs Bunny cartoons. Bomber and I bonded largely over Looney Tunes, among many other things that we'll be talking about on this pod. But we're going to start. We're going to start with some Bugs Bunny cartoons, and we're going to drop that simultaneously with this intro.
